Thread: Chieftec Bx-01 Case

  1. #1
Ebuyer are selling these for £45 (no PSU).

Chieftec BX-01 Extreme Black With Silver Front Panel ATX Case No PSU

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...oduct_uid=55640

From the pics I've seen of this and the other models in the range they look good, well, certainly more promising than 90% of all other ATX cases out there, or are they just as tacky and dated in the flesh??

I'm on a real budget, so if anyone has got any clever suggestions on a reliable 400+w PSU which is both quiet and cheap and comes with the moon on a stick, let me know!

Well, I dont have that exact case, but I have a Chieftec Dragon series case and I love it. Its very sturdy and has a lot of room. I would recommend Chieftec to anyone.

    Okay, that sounds good!

Any idea on a PSU? Does 400W seem enough for running an athlon 2500+, DVD RW, CDRW, Asus 9600Xt, 2x 512mb ram, asus nvidia delux moboard, 120 gig hard drive, and plenty of memory consuming apps??

What is your total budget for case and psu?

Really don't want to be spending more than about £65 if I can help it, but I really don't want something that looks tacky and Shite! There is no excuse for a poor looking case when someone is paying over £50, yet for some reason most look like they were designed 10 years ago! I'd rather keep my beige 3 year old Mesh case than most of the stuff out there!

Sorry to rant, but the only cases I've seen which genuinely look good and won't date by tommorow morning (although both are way out of my price bracket) are:

    and

    http://www.antec-inc.com/us/pro_details_en...p?ProdID=81600#

Errrr...... Right, anyway, may stretch a little over if it's really nice!!

    Have a look here http://www.xcase.co.uk/

Good selection of cases and you can add a psu to most of the cases for a bit extra.
The Chieftec BX-01 is a bit dearer, but there is a bx you can choose all the colours of.

    Okay, Chieftec good!

What about choosing the right PSU?

Does 400W seem enough for running an athlon 2500+, DVD RW, CDRW, Asus 9600Xt, 2x 512mb ram, asus nvidia delux moboard, 120 gig hard drive, and plenty of memory consuming apps??

Can I get away with a 360W PSU, or is that gonna be too lame?

400 or 450 is good. i can run my system with a 250watt if i have to but dont just for safety.

and these are my specs as theyve diapeared from my signature

    athlon xp 2200+
    ecs k7vmm+
    128mb geforce 4 mx440 agp8x
    512mb ddr ram
    400watt enermax dualfan power supply
2 cd drives (cdrw and dvdrom)
    1 hard drive (40gb maxtor)
stock cooling fan and one case fan, adding another one tonight

and all of that can run on 250wat (i tried it, i was curious) so 400 or 450 should definately be enough for your computer.
