I cant verify that church attendance is down...

I know in a recent US survey the number of peeps who said that they believed in God was up...

I know church attendance skyrocketed after 9/11 tragedy...maybe it's coming back down now?
This has some interesting tables. I don't know much about the source organisation, but it appears reasonably scholarly without grinding axes (there were pro-religion and anti-religion ones which I thought best to avoid).

Whilst a little out of date, it does cover the impact of 9/11 and the period immediately after. It is perhaps not surprising that people felt the pull of participating in communal prayer during such a period. The period of reflection afterwards and the question Why? can ultimately lead to a decline.

I could sense them gather wood to burn me at the stake as I wrote the words.

I also went to church every week until I was 15, I even was an acolyte. The bible can teach us many good things, and most things I learnt about morality and ethics come from there. I stopped oing because of the lack of time and at a later age because I disagree with many points the catholic churc decides to promote.
Although I must agree, it DOES bring people together in a very nice way

What did you have to do Squeeky. Hang from the ceiling with a lighted candle in your mouth.

The above is a cleaned up version of what I first thought.

No, I had to get everything ready for mass, bring the wine, water and bread, ring the bell, hand out the communion,...
Collect the money, count it afterwards, clean up when it's done.
Didn't have to do that alone though, there were 5 others
