    Ok, I bought a Sony 52X32X52 CD-RW. I have Memorex 48X cds...I have Nero 6. It will only let me burn up to 16X...why cant I burn up to 48X????

    I&#39;ve heard that Memorex isn&#39;t all that good, I use TDK CD-R&#39;s. And I can burn at 48x.

    Bigdawg there is a setting your missing I Have a 48 speed can set my burn speed to what ever i like from 4 to 48 using nero 6 too. Doesn&#39;t matter what brand of cd&#39;s i use

    If you&#39;ve burnt above 16x before and it&#39;s only lately slowed down, it&#39;s quite possible you have the same problem as I had. Go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager>IDE/ATAPI controller.

    Then go to either primary or secondary channel depending on the placement of the cd-rw drive. Go to Advanced Settings and have a look at the "Current Transfer Mode" for the cd-rw drive. What does it say there?
    On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.

    ya Memorex arent that good bcuz they dont burn right and most cd burners cant even read Memorex cds

    I&#39;ve used tons of burners with memorex and have heard that they are very good. I have the black kind which are scratch resistant...i like them alot.

    Thanks for yalls help...and no 4th gen this is a brand new burner, i have never burned faster then this...my old one was only 8X haha

    Can you tell me like what buttons i need to go to to change that?

    I can go to extras and then Nero DriveSpeed, but it doesnt have a write option...just how fast it reads it.

    Alright..I went to try to burn a cd and its at 52X now...thanks&#33;
