BTW, I'm around a 7.5 on this scale, being that I have built Gentoo but am not using it.
1. What's a computer?
2. I can type 6 words a minute. I can do basic word processing. I own a $299 Dell.
3. I know how to connect to the Internet. I can do advanced data entry. I can install software.
4. I understand the basic concepts of Windows. I know what FTP is.
5. I know one programming or scripting language and can recognize two others. I can install Windows.
6. I am a Windows power user and understand the basic concepts of Unix. I can set up a RAID array.
7. I have reverse engineered software before. I understand the intricacies of HTTP and TCP-IP.
8. I use a self-built copy of Gentoo Linux. My skills at vi are better than mine at IE. SCO is evil.
9. I can read and write ASCII and UTF-8 in binary, hex, and octal. I know one white-hat hacker.
10. I can understand and write complex virii -- in machine language.
