Help W/ Hosts File

does anybody no if the hosts file could b preventing me from accessing the internet all 2gether, i called me internet provider and they did some pinging tests and told me that the internet was working fine, and the guy on th phone had me do a search on hosts and 10 files came up 4 it and he told me he cant tell me 2 do anything w/ them 4 liability reasons but told me that was probably y i cant access the net, im at school right now and wil b leaving in 4-5 hours and cant acces this site aftr that so thnx 4 any help.

ps, im goin 2 try aldos tools w/ the hosts manager, any1 no if that will help.

It's not the hosts file... I've had this problem before. The only thing that helped me was use system restore to restore to a point BEFORE the problem occured.

But... if you want to try it...

try putting a # symbol before the entries he gave you, and see what that does, if you believe that is preventing you from accessing the net.

All the # sybol does is comment the entries out. They will still be there, but Windows will ignore them.

i think a system restore would work, ill have 2 go try that
