    im thinking of making the switch to linux from my nice comfortable winodws envornment. 2 things"

    1. what version will be an easy transaction from windows to linux?

    2. Is it a good idea?

    3. What factors are better about linux than windows?

    It is a great idea if you are willing to learn


    I think mandrake 9.2 is probably best for beginners right now.

    Linux is more stable than windows, more secure, better software, more fun, and just cool.

    1) try a live cd they can be used to play with linux before you jump in fully.
    here

    2) hell yeah its a good idea even if you dont like it you will see the alternatives.

    3) stability and free software.

    linux can be a complete pig to use sometimes so it is not for everyone but if you learn how to use it then it will become a very valuable tool.

    This is why we need a Linux section.
    I strongly suggest trying a Live Disk. Try Linux without it affecting your system.

    I still have a bunch to list, but there's over 40 different live disks withtheir descriptions here

    set a cronjob to grep the board for the word linux saves time. B)

    no idea what the hell that would do but it sounds good
