Removing Background Ads

The page below loads really slow (compared to other pages on the server). IE picks up some ad stuff and the page seems to hang before fully loading. Is it just the other scripts I've got running (like the hit counter). How can I speed it up?

Seems to be the hit counter, since it's java. Nothing else on the page is slowing it down. I'd guarantee it'd speed up if the counter were removed.

Thanks that helped. Does anyone know where I can get a new hit counter? It needs to be a plain as possible (just small text) and neat with no background (or a transparent) and no ads.
