i know it is a database file and it only appears when u browse a folder or open a file,so it can perhaps be temporary file?

ur right, its a db where windows caches a copy of thumbnails of the current folder, but it isnt really temporary, they stay there a while i think, u can turn thumbnail caching of in folder options to stop it making more, but u have to delete the old ones if u want rid of them
