    Obtaining Linux Cds

There are a few different ways to obtain linux installation disks:
    • Download
    • Order (cheap)
    • Linux user group
    • Library books (sometimes they are included with linux books)
    Downloading
First I will go through getting linux by downloading the iso's. There sites that list where you can download linux for free.

    Linuxiso.org
    Distrowatch.com
Those are the 2 main linux iso sites, but you can get linux isos from p2p networks. Bittorrent is probably the best to use for this because it has error correction

torrent files are availible at any good torrent site, like suprnova.org
Search result on isohunt - found linux installation torrents

Download links are also availible at the distro's site.

A tutorial was written about using cd images here

    Ordering

Another way to obtain linux disks is to order them, they are availible at a very low rate from a few sites. I've never ordered them, but they look reputible...Those are just 2 there are many more, but those seem to be the most popular.

    Linux User Group

Linux user groups are all over, there is probably one near you. Some have install demonstrations where they install linux on a computer for free.

I found a linux user group near me just by putting in my city name then linux user group, you can probably find one the same way.

    Library Books

I got my linux cd this way, it is probably the easiest way to get it if you are looking for a popular distro. Just look for a book with a linux cd in it

you also forget to mention you can actual buy linux in the shops people.

you get nice packaging, no long download, proper cds, normally some kind of 30 days customer support, user manual which i found very helpful and you get to support the linux community.

I spent £30 on suse 8.2 and it came with all the above which i did find very helpful. but i have seen red hat and suse on sale in pc world for £10

well worth a look people. B)
