put the windows xp cd in, reboot, then when it says press any key to boot from cd you press any key, then you press enter, press F8, then if there are 2 partition spaces then delete both of them and reinstall windows.

the boot.ini file will have 2 lines in it. and one will be the version you dont want. if you feel brave , you can delete one and then it wont ask you that anymore. then use something like partition magic to erase the other partition. it should look something like this opened with notepad:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /KERNEL=LOGOOS.EXE
