Thread: Unreal Tournement 2004 ? & Help

1. #1
I just recently over clocked my pc. i overclocked my athlon xp 1800+ from 1.53 ghz to 1.68 ghz. My FSB is running at 146 and my v-core is running at 1.850. Now it wont let me play my unreal tourney 2003 or 2004 games on my pc. It comes up with this error when it starts up.

UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2004-02-10_03.01]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1686 MHz with 511MB RAM
Video: RADEON 7000 SERIES (6422)

Error setting display mode: CheckDepthStencilMatch failed. (D3D_OK). Please delete your UT2004.ini file if this error prevents you from starting the game.

History: UD3DRenderDevice::UnSetRes <- DetermineFormats <- SetupPresentParms <- UD3DRenderDevice::SetRes <- UWindowsViewport::TryRenderDevice <- UWindowsViewport:penWindow <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

I need everyone's help to fix this so i can play these great games?

thanx alot

Its possible that UT2003 - 2004 has an auto hardware detector. It stores this information in an .ini file, about your hardware. You've changed your hardware, without reinstalling UT, so it does a check every startup referencing the .ini file with your hardware info. They dont match, the game dont play. Therefore, if you delete the .ini file, UT will recheck your hardware when it finds it isnt there and make a new one.

Just a theory, but it fits.
