is it possible to connect a parallel printer via the usb port, as im going to be getting a router with a usb print server built in, and the machines that use it are laptops so there aint anypoint in having the printer plugged into a laptop

only if the printer supports a usb port, if not you would have to get some kind of jetdirect card for it.

Belkin makes a parallel to USB cable, for just that problem.
Rather expensive though, usually like 30 + dollars (U.S.D.)

i dont think think the scanner part of it would work, i have a parallel port scanner and i tried hooking it up to my router;s print server but the software couldnt pick it up. btw, it was a scanjet 3200c.

That printer isn't worth getting an adaptor.

Just one little thing... Why didn't you post a picture or a link to show us the printer? It just makes it harder to help. (sorry but sometimes it gets frustrating)... Taking a break now.
