Thread: Peer 2 Peer Streaming Radio

  1. #1
Anybody tried this seems quite intresting
http://www.peercast.org/ from what i read it uses a gnutella like network
structure and makes the original broadcaster hard to trackdown,
It works by turning listerers into streamers, It been quite for awhile but the developer has returned.....

There's also http://www.streamerp2p.com/ it more supported it's very similar to the other one but it seems to have an upload minimum, so some of the higher bandwidth channels i cant access...

Both allow you and encourage you to stream ogg as it has better quality for lower bandwidth 60kb is about 128kb in mp3 format.

Does anybody actually listen to internet radio? I sure in the hell dont. I figure I got 3 gigs of all my own music and don't need to listen to random crap thrown together and streamed at 24k quality. The only thing internet radio is good for is pissing off the RIAA by streaming their precious member songs without paying royalties.

Then you havent tried the streams in winamp 160, 192 and 256kb streams.

As for alot of the streams in p2p radio they are low but this of course is always based of peoples upload speed which will hopefully get better with time...
