I'm in the process of getting a PC meant for Video Editing and Gaming and am looking for 3D Cards.

I'm thinking of either getting an FX5600 256 Meg or a 5900. Which 5900 is the best to get, what's the difference between them and how much longtevity will that or the 5600 have?

Also, why is it that the 5600 isn't really on the Nvidia URL anymore? It's been replaced by the 5700.

Do any of these cards have VIVO?

The 5900XT is the worse, the 5900 is better, and the 5900 Ultra is the best. Same with the 5950 series. I would get the 5900 over the 5600 for sure.

If it was me I would get the 9800Pro for $215

    EDIT: yes haha

i think he mean to say that 5900xt is least good, then 5900, then 5900 ultra. 5950 is better than the 5900 also, i tihnk it is the best nvidia has to offer in teh desktop area.

I'm in the process of getting a PC meant for gaming and video editing, so will the FX5950 be able to play all the latest games for the next 2-3 years or so?

Do you know if it has VIVO, also what makes it better than the 5900?

it will definately play the latest gaes for a few years, my old geforce 4 mx440 can play the latest games and its nothing compared to the 5900 or 5950.

not suer about vivo because it depends on the maker of the card, if they decide to put on the plugs for vivo then it will have it so when you go to buy one look at there specs to see if it has it.

the main differences between teh two are the clock speeds i beleive.

So would it make a big difference if I got the 5900 instead of the 5950?

with the highest details (full antialiasing and antisotropic filtering) there is only a difference between the two cards of about 3 FPS (frames per second).
without the full details then there is a difference of around 3-8 frmaes per second.

look at bigdawgfoxx's pinned post called graphics card guide for benchmarks.

I would go for the ultra version of either card, preferably with the 5950 if I had the money, apparently these cards are a real step up from the other nvidia GPU's.
