something that i tried a few years back was to put a tape into a tape player (a video recorder) and while it was playing i shoved my sisters britney spears album in there, suprisingly the cd came out the best, not only did i have to fork out for a cd but also a new VCR

did it ever occur 2 u that throwing it in the campfire, or the stove, and leaving it for about an hour would compleatly disceneragrate it?

CDs are good for target practice.
Throw the disk in a fire and watch it melt.
Break it in half.
Scrape the silver off with a knife.

If you were that paranoid would you have data burned to a simple disc that anyone could access ?

Surely you'd encrypt it first ?

The problem would not be destroying the CD's, but being smart enough to avoid having to in the first place.

Anyways, I just elave them lying around. No one is going to go through hundreds of burned, mostly unlabeled CD's in the hope of finding evidence.

throw a whole pile on the ground and drive your car over them.

Rev the shit out of the car, throw it in gear and watch the cd's fly

Or what you can do if you wanna keep the shit but make sure no one can read the disk, is after you burn the shit, DO NOT CLOSE THE SESSION.

Then burn another session onto it with an autorun file if done right, the only files you can see is the autorun file

The only way to acces your data is by extracting the seperate sessions as ISO's.

I accidently done this.

Or, get your self a program called reshacker, open up a dll file and erase everything in it.

Then add all your shit in the dll file, save it add that dll file in another dll, open it up in a hex editor and delete a string but make sure you remember what it was and then i doubt anyone can see the data

2600 Magazine once published an article about how to securely destroy CDs. I can't be bothered enough to find it, but I remember that it was a long, scientific discussion discussing how CDs are made and how to destroy them perfectly.
