I love this guy, been reading his books for 15 years now:

He [Pratchett] also expressed surprise at Rowling's comments that she only realised Harry Potter was fantasy after the first book was published.

"I'm not the world's greatest expert," he wrote.

"But I would have thought that the wizards, witches, trolls, unicorns, hidden worlds, jumping chocolate frogs, owl mail, magic food, ghosts, broomsticks and spells would have given her a clue?"

I would love to see a Pratchett film. Monty Pythonesque I would hope.

There's been a few animations of Pratchett's novels. I saw one and wasn't impressed.

Though I wasn't impressed with the Hitchhiker's Guide film either. I think Pratchett (and Douglas Adams) would not/doesn't translate to the big screen well.

Half the joy of reading Pratchett and Adams is the sarcastic tone of the narrative, those sly observations that make you LOL.

So true. It's always big american film directors who try to do it (in the case of douglas adams) and can't grasp the subtly or wit.

Apparently Terry Gilliam was going to make a film of good omens - now that would be incredible.
