Thread: Question For Americans

  1. #1
Might seem a dumb question to some people, but do the Latin Americans speak the same Spanish language as the people living in Spain?

The reason being i`ve found some Learn Spanish files and they seem to be directed at American people. Thanks.

Spanish, like most languages has variations from place to place. In American schools "Castillian" Spanish is taught.

I imagine if you speak "spanish" you will be able to understand speakers worldwide despite regional differences.

It is no different than an American clearing up confusions with the British. We get the "jist" but some words and phrases need to be clarified, like "chips" and "fries".
Aren't we in the trust tree, thingey?

Some pronunciations differ, but I think that's about it.

ok, thanks all, i`ll give it a go, as we go to Spain quite a lot, seems rude not to speak the language!
