Go to the folder the file is in, go to tools>folder options. Uncheck the "hide extensions for known filetypes" and then change the extension to .avi...
On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.
And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit and you think "Ok, this is the limit".
As soon as you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further.

Start - Settings - Control Panels - Folder Options

    Select the View tab
UNcheck "hide file extensions for known file types"
    Click OK to finish

It's not an avi file, it's an Ogg Media (video) file. You'll have to use a normal file splitter to split it (not an avi splitter). Try HJsplit.

Burn the two halfs onto 700MB CDs. Then when you get to the computer you want to play the film on, copy the 700MB parts onto the target machine, use HJsplit again to join the two halfs back up.

The second part won't play until you join it back up with the first part on the target machine
