Remotely Turn Pc On

Theres an app which can switch your pc on from a remote host by sending the ethernet card a unique packet, its called wake on lan, is it possible to do the same thing with an external modem? i have the asus a7n8x if thats any help, so the board does support remote power on...

as far as i know your modem needs to be enabled 4 "wake on lan" to use it, not only your board............ so check your ethernet card manual.........

why not just leave the pc on? and use a remote control program

There is no reason why you shouldnt keep the modem on. You will need it to be on to switch on your pc remotely anyway.
