1. #1
OK, im picking up the parts tommorow.

I was going to get a 2.8 Prescott but then some one said that the Northwood 2.8 is better in performance and runs alot cooler.

Can you guys help me choose wich one and if their are any benchies around comparing the two ??

Get whichever one's cheaper, there won't be much difference between them performance-wise.

Or even better get an AthlonXP 2800+

there isnt much of a difference in the cpu's at this time, but the new prescott core has the ability to get a much higher clock rate in teh future which the northwood does not have.

if you are just buying a 2.8ghz cpu i would buy the northwood, it runs cool and its not much sloer than prescott

Yes, I would get the 2.8C (northwood), because it runs alot cooler. I think he should wait until the faster prescotts come out (3.6, 3.8) and then buy one of those.

OK, if i get the prescott, it would be fine with the default hsf ??

If not i will just buy the northwood because its going to be a working pc for maya 3d, photoshop, vb and stuff like that.

I really doubt any games will be played.

Cant wait tommorow to build it all because i havent stuffed around with pc hardware for over a week and i need my fix

At current speeds, Northwoods are faster and cooler.

They won't be making Northwoods much anymore, I heard somewhere the 3.4 Ghz Northwood is the end, and its going to be Prescott from then on.

Go Northwood for now anyway.
