I have looked on search engines across the internet and can't seem to find any simple settings for using XVID, as a codec, in capturing video with a "video capture card.

Sure, I can create an XVID movie file, but I end up with several GB for a short movie.

All I want, is a simple standard setting for XVID that I can use to capture video from a digital cable box (same as satellite box), without using my entire hard drive to do it.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, of course. Actually, I can use any video software that allows usage of codecs, such as XVID. It is the "XVID codec encoding settings" that I am interested in.
