i have a AMD XP 2500+ (1.8 GHz), Win XP, 512 MB RAM, and a 80 GB HD so it should load fine. Is there anyway to tweak winamp to load faster?

It only takes 3 seconds for me on a slower sytem than yours.
Yes, it takes a while for it to load on my pc also.

I had the exact same problem with 2.91 but 5.02 is lightning fast for me.
I think it has to do with bad plugins try un-installing winamp and then delete the folder so it kills all your plugins. then install it again and see if it is quicker.
I dont have any plug in installed, and after trying a lot of times, NOTHING beats Winamp 2, i use Winamp 5 because of the skinz, but Winamp 2 is for sure the fastest....
