I have the same exact version of yours , mine is about 504,000 KB , when i install it , it doesnt copy any files , i too really need another copy , it nearly messed up my old PC.
How do you know you both have the same ?
What files are corrupt may be quicker to replace them ?
If it was from KaZaa did you (both) use CDmage to check and repair corruption ?
Its weird how you both have the same problem is it the same downloaded file ?

I was talking to him on msn when he was trying to install, and one of the files that didnt copy was shell32.dll, that file has most of windows xp's icons in it so...yeah it wouldn't run right.

darkclown, did u try using the other cd drive you put into that computer? it might just be that drive cant read the cd properly, the one in my old computer is like that and when i have to reinstall i put my burner into the old computer. you could also try using a different brand cd-r or just put your own cd-rw drive into the other computer just to install then take it out later.

How many cycles did the memory test perform?
Is it always the same files that won't copy?
Does it start copying files and a while later give the error, or error straight away?
What exactly does the error say?
Have you performed a checkdisk? 'Thorough' mode (or whatever XP calls that)?

I'm not being an arse, here, I want to help, but you're giving out information like a car owner calling a mechanic saying "I turn the key and it's not starting, what's wrong?" It makes me feel like we're pulling teeth.
Golden rules... always make a note of the exact wording of any errors and BSODs (you can compare them if it happens again); give as much system info as you can; give exact information of procedures you go through up until the error, and steps taken.
This is really just like the other thread where the poster doesn't say he's hitting a key when the XP CD is in the drive but wants to know why it's in an install loop.

Don't get the hump, I'm not dissing at all.
