Thread: Interested In Comments About Desktop

  1. #1
When I have enough saved up. I am very intersted in puchasing this desktop. Nothing bad about it, that I see, besides for a few flaws, like pre-installed Xp with no extra disk, no speakers or monitor.

I do not know much about parts so any comments, good or bad, would be appreciated. Right now this looks 10x better then the computer I am currently running on

but you can build a better one for around the same and certainly less than the one you posted

$1000 is a bit much to pay for a desktop, 'specially since it's a buyer's market nowadays and that kind of money oughta be able to buy more "stuff" (monitor, speakers, printer). unless you're going to do a lot of 3D game-playing, audio/video editing, or anything that really pushes the system very hard, you could save a lot of money by getting a slightly slower processor. even if you do plan to do much heavy-duty stuff with the computer, a 2.6ghz comp (or "2600," the AMD equivalent) handles most things just fine... by the time 2.6ghz and 3ghz computers become obsolete, that extra 0.4ghz won't make much of a difference at all.

personally, i'd just get a slightly slower one (the very fastest models are usually terrible values, as far as bang-for-your-buck goes) and use the money i saved to get a monitor or some other gadget (digital camera, scanner, tv tuner card, whatever).

Not bad of a deal I would say...
    But a geforcefx 5200 128M?
Try asking for Ti or an ATi 9600 PRO / XT

    I would prefer customizing it...
Buy a cheap combo with good parts from a NON EXPENSIVE COMPUTER STORE and tell them to buy the combo deal and build it yourself, I recommend not trusting those computer sellers to assemble your part since you think they are putting new parts in?

No, they put in used parts. Ask them to assemble it yourself .

If you buy it part for part, you will notice that combos are a better choice of spending money since parts such as P4 2.4 ($245 CDN) and there is a combo with all the system requirements for just ($555). So use common sense and try to be smart! Don't be scared to say what you want. They will take advantage of your computer knowledge. DEMAND WHAT YOU WANT, YOUR THE CUSTOMER!

This is my type of store, dont't worry about this store... they have a special warehouse and assemblies REAL NEW PARTS. You can tell by looking inside the computer itself. That is why you need to install windows xp by yourself. Since the hard drive has been installed freshly!
