You should find an option mate in the codec properties "flip video".Atleast with xvid.
its upside down in the avi preview.will i have to download it all b4 i can make any changes to it. all this shit is new to me as you have probably worked out by now

Did you ever get your movie fixed, I am having the same problem, my movie is AVI and I flipped it with Xvid but I guess I didnt do it right its still upside down, Or I am ...LOL

seems to be a problem with your codecs mate. I've had this before. I think I just downloaded the newest divx codec and that worked. Try it out, and if that doesn't work wait for someone wiser to come along.
If all else fails, at the end of the day you can always just do a handstand. Or flip the monitor :p

go to FFDShow's Configuration menu & in Image Settings / Overlay / Output tab tick the Flip video box.
