Thread: Problem On School Computers

  1. #1
ok, at school I've been trying to listen to some streaming songs in m3u format. when i click on the stream, WMP is the default player and it says it encountered an error or something. So i tried different programs, like quicktime and winamp. it doesn't work in winamp either and quicktime says the "file cannot be found"

i tried saving the streaming file and opening from the computer, but that didn't work. and i tried saving the file as an mp3 but that didn't work either. and i cant download the mp3 form the site because "that file extension is denied"

any ideas on what i can do?

doesn't the m3u file just link to the mp3. so its still only trying to download the mp3. maybe thats why its not working.

ask your admin for help if its legal then im sure they will help.

Try putting a question mark at the end of the url, the stupid admins at my school block everything but html, so I put a question mark at the end of .php's and things like that and it works.

that works with php because its a way of posting information. if you add a ? to the end of a mp3 url the adress will be wrong and the server will not find the file.

    Yeah, works for me.

im not sure if it will work because the computer might have a specific list of words in adresses to block. for example, we cant go to www.ign.com because its about games. I just mean, soemtimes it seems to block sites just by the words found in the adress. so the adress will still have "mp3" in it.

oh well, i will try it and report back.
