Thread: Fan Control

  1. #1
    Hello...

    I Have 3 case fans...
One from the back of the case blowing out.
Two from the side of the case blowing in.

I unplugged two from the side since my computer fans make so much noise, I can't stand the noise.

I tried SpeedFan 4.11 and Motherboard Monitor 5.
I can't seem to figure out how to set my CASE FANS.
Not my processer fan, and my video card fan.

    My case fans use 12.0V
Can somone help or give me a simple tutorial to configure it thanks.
SpeedFan or Motherboard Monitor 5 will be fine.

you cant control 12v fans, you need to plug them into the motherboard system fan plug point , i think its 7 or 5 v supply

Ok, it's "low noise" you want.

First take as much temp readings as you can now, and write them down, so you know when you are making progress.
    Impotant values are:
CPU temp, case temp, HD temp, air expelled by the PSU, air expelled by the case fan, and ambient temp of course.
Both with the CPU idle, and under full load.

Try to take some 'sound readings' too, like "I can hear my PC halfway down the stairs with the door closed". Sound readings are best done in the middle of the night, and when your ears are used to silence too.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    First experiment:

Disconnect both you case fans, and tape shut both blow-holes in the sides of your case so no air can enter there.
Make sure sufficient air can get into the case low down in front.
Open up the slot just below the graphics card so fresh air passes the graphis card fan. Relocate a card when that slot is occupied.

Now repeat all the temp readings and sound readings, write them down, and report back.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

It helps when you take pics, and give more specs on your system.

    Okay...

Il give you some specs of my fans.
    Il be using SpeedFan 4.11.

Okay I took off 2 of my fans from the side and left one at the back...
Not as much noise... Its pretty much quiet by my temp will go high thats the problem the only thing i want to fix is my 2fans in the side... they make so much noise!

Well il give you some info and screenshots.

    Thanks !

If i used 3 of my fans together all my average temp is usually 25 - 29.

Im just trying to figure out which one is my case fan in the speedfan program.

you cant control fans that are plugged into molex connecters using software, the only ones you can control are teh ones plugged directly into the motherboard.

You could also check into the 7 volt trick.

    Just a quick question:

Did you tape shut the holes in the sides?

The only air entering the case should come in low down.
You have a PSU pulling air out, and
you have a case fan pulling air out.

That should be enough to run the the system.
Just make sure your case has enough openings low down to allow an easy entrance of air.

Yeah, If you have not overclocked or anything, you should be able to run it with just one exhuast fan, or even just the PSU fans.

I am using 1 case fan, 1 processer, 1 power supply, and 1 graphics card fan.
    Which is my case fan?

    low down? what?
Well i have alot of holes in my case...
Anyway its the fan i kept is blowing it...
Now the temp is 25 - 35 average.
But if I put turn on my 2 fans... it goes 20 -29 average.

I dont tape my air holes...
