Alienware are now selling an Athlon 64 FX-53 system, but I haven't heard a lot about a proper release yet. Also, looking around the Alienware site says nothing about a delayed shipping date for said PC.

Its on the AMD site, pretty silent release if you ask me. Am I just not up to date?

I would have thought that they would definatly have advertised this a lot more then they did, I didn't hear anything about it untill now...

Not exactly a giant full blown release though was it?

they did a silent release for a reason: so that they can kill the stocks of 51s that they still have left.

itll never happen tho. they shouldve been smarter, like intel when they released 478, and advertized it a bit more (altho intel was also awfully silent about 478

get used to it. the only heavily advertized pin upping is prescott, and those no longer use pins on the chip . but prescott seems like a disappointment ... Intel waited to kill many of their p4EEs before prescott, but they are still making p4ees cuz they know that many ppl could use it...

    correct me if im wrong...

A useful comparison of the top AMD and Intel processors.

One thing we shouldn't overlook though, these are 64 bit processors running in 32 bit mode. What will their performance be like when the full power of their 64 bit architecture is unleashed? I suspect even the P4EE's will struggle.

Linux 64 bit running UT2004 64 bit saw 33% improvements, and thats on Linux, which the game was not primarily made for. Just think about 64 bit optimised drivers and the whole package...
