I think the white outline is simply where the heatsink was stuck to the chip. It may have covered the memory chips too, but if you look at the picture of the whole card there appears to be a clearly defined outline (not covering memory) which would suggest the outline of the heatsink.

Look at the picture of the chip

Underneath where it says NV40 you&#39;ll see it says G35594 which I&#39;m pretty certain is the part number for the NV35 chip.
