Hell isnt censored here in america on national T.V.  And in PG-13 movies these words are said, Hell , Shit , Bitch, Queer, Dick, etc. and some other ones , BUT FUCK DEFINETLY isnt allowed, its "R".
i didn't mean that "hell" is going to stop them from getting a PG-13 rating. i meant that the PG-13 thing is evidence that they are aiming it toward teens, so they might not want to give it a title that parents will complain about. you never know when some nuts with too much time on their hands will suddenly decide that it's time to stage a protest against your satanic-themed children's movie.

i got the free preview disc from Best Buy a few weeks ago, and i was pretty impressed. i definitely wanna see this movie soon. seems like "paranormal investigators" (i.e. like Kolchak, X-Files, UFO/bigfoot-chasers in general) are back in fashion... with Hellboy and Van Helsing coming out this year, and the Keanu Reeves movie "Constantine" (supposed to come out in 2005?) is along the same lines.
got same dvd..gonna go see it Sunday

    I really didn't like it.

    Very disappointing.

It was not X-Files meets X-Men.

The story was rather convoluted even though I am familiar with the comic.

Seemed a bit slow... Hellboy's one liners weren't all that funny, though the action was good, Selma Blair was excellent... if anyone can explain the mystery of his horns to me... I'd appreciate someone explaining why he files them down... and how they are related to the gateway/portal to hell... I found that part to be a bit confusing

    (**WARNING SOME SPOILERS**)

Great Scotts! I saw this movie twice in a row! It was so incredible! Guillermo del Toro delivers one of his best directorial debuts. His work is so incredible.

Ron Perlman portrays Hellboy like none other! He was awesome! The make-up and the one-liners were great. He was developed quite well. Though, sometimes I couldn'tunderstand some of the words because he had the cigar in his mouth.

There were some great action sequences, such as the beginning sequence. The villains weren't as developed as I would have like to have seen though. Kroenen was killed off way to fast. Hellboy should've put up a better fight with him. I also like the creature Sammael. It was pretty cool to see it fight Big Red.

The love relation ship between Liz and HB was done well. I felt for Hellboy, as he went through all his troubles for her. I also think the relationship between Professor Bruttenholm ("Broom") and Hellboy was played out well. I felt sad when Bruttenholm died, and Hellboy held him in his arms. Great father-son relationship.

The music was beautiful! I hope to get a copy of the score to the film soon. Loved it! Also, the cinematography was awesome! GdT made this film seem almost twice its budget. The effects were that good!

Abe Sapien was well portrayed by Doug Jones. My 2nd favorite character of the film. He was awesome! I love the quick head movements, which made him seem "fish-like." I feel though he didn't get enough screen time.

The ending sequence was pretty entertaining. I liked how Hellboy's Right Hand of Doom was the key to unlock the portal. The Seven Gods of Chaos was awesome too. I was a little confused about the part where Hellboy had to say his name to unlock himself from the stock. Didn't quite get that.

Well, all in all, I give this film a solid 10/10. Easily one of my favorite movies of all time. Hope a sequel gets made!

    Ciao!

The movie explains that he files his horns to look more human.

Who's Selma Blair? There was no woman in the movie who had outstanding performance. If she's the firestarter, she was greatly under used.

I didn't like the bullshit romance stuff in the movie. The coolest guy was the Nazi with the knives.
