How Can I Configure My Comp To Enhance Graphics

If there is a website that shows how to configure your comp to run games at top performance please link.

I just got this new graphics card and updated the software and updated everything and closed all prgrams and still graphics are poor.

OMG!! I'll give you a tip right now. Please format your hard drive and put something other than Windows ME. Worst thing M$ ever did.

It can handle XP with some tweaking, but 2000 may be better.

For better performance during games, you should try for better overall system performance.
Ulimate Tweaking program -- X-Setup
Black Viper is a serious tweaker. Has some nice tips.
Theorica has some stuff for WinXP imcluding something specifically for gaming.

defragment, then start>run>msconfig>startup>disanle any programs which u dont need to startup.

disable system restore and indexing servives in start>run>services.msc

run spyware and antivirus scanners.

i wish i could defrag , but even with a fresh winme reformatt it cannot defrag . I'm getting xp.

Yep, and it's also good to clean the registry. There's always errors.
RegSeeker can allow some tweaking and allow you to edit what starts up with Windows without going into the registry by hand. The less starting up, the better. It's also the best registry cleaner I know.

Easy Cleaner is also good.

Window Washer is an extremely valuable tool. (of course it can be found via P2P proggies)

LitePC in case you decide to get Win2000 or XP....

I see you have nVidia, there are some modded nVidia drivers that have graphic tweaks or performence tweaks, you can get them here http://omegacorner.com (there are also ATI drivers.

I've seen XP run on garbage computers, much worse than yours. So your comp can handle it with tweaking. What really helps is having a graphics card. Graphic memory is important with XP. When you get XP, shut down all the unneccesary services, rip off the crap gui and place the classic on it, take stuff out of startup and X-Setup can take care of the rest.

Upgrading your hardware is probably the easiest way. I'm just saying it can be done through software if you're willing to take the time.

There is a lab in our uni with P3 600MHz, 128MB ram PCs on XP, with full visual effects. They run kind of ok, not too badly
