dl'd this movie off of suprnov....its a .MKV file? how do I view it? I tried renaming it and changing it to a mpeg or avi file but doesnt work.

okay...went to the site...what is the codec called? do i need to download one of the players listed there? sooo much hassle to play a movie...why encode it this way?

MKV files are generally used because they allow multiple audios (ie diff languages) , subtitles (different subtitle language), and chaptering info (Ability to jump to different areas of video). But they arent always used.
