Fullscreen Fubar

Whenever I try to play a DVD - in BSplayer, WMP9, WinDVD, anything - it works just fine in windowed mode, but I get no sound and a black screen when I toggle fullscreen.
WinXP, all updates, started for no apparent reason.

Solutions ?

PowerDVD is the best B)

Me : "My left blinker stopped working !"
You : "Then stop taking left turns."

Videolan works fine, even in fullscreen, but I'd like this fixed anyway. This sort of thing just bugs me.
