hello everyone,

To clear up all questions about the different p2p clients out there I have posted this guide to help you choose what client to get.

P2P client Choosing guide

Kazaa Lite

K-lite is one of the most widely used p2p applications. It connects to the fastrack network which contains a ton of files. Although now, many files are either renamed or corrupt. Since k-lite is officially dead, not many people still use it.

Pros:
-Fast download speeds
-One of the most commenly used p2p applications
-Lots of files

Cons:
-many downloads are fake/corrupt
-K-lite is officially "dead"

Bittorrent

Bittorrent is one of my faveorite p2p apps. It is reliable and you get no corrupt files and very little (or no) fakes. It does have to connect to a tracker/torrent, or server to start the downloading. Sometimes it can use up a lot of ram and might be slow, but it all depends on what client that you have and what your computer specs are.

Some links
-Suprnova.org-Torrent site
-Guide to using bittorrent (by lindorez)

Pros:
-Fast
-No corrupt downloads

Cons:
-Must have torrent file to resume/download a file

(M)Irc

Irc, or internet relay chat can be really good and easy to use, if you know how to use it. Good speeds and little corruptions, unless you resume a download from another bot.

Links:
-mirc irc client downloads page
-Irc search engine
-How to download files with irc(by rip the jacker)

Pros:
-Good speeds
-Chat while you download

Cons:
-A bit difficult to get used to
-You must resume downloads from the bot that you started the download with, or risk getting a corrupt download.

**If you need an mirc serial, pm either me or rip the jacker. I only have serial for 6.14 so, if you don't have that version (which is the current version) then pm rip the jacker with your version number.**

Emule/edonkey/overnet

Emule and the like are great for downloading rare files, although they have slow download speeds.

Links
-Emule faq(by sharedholder, all you need to know about emule with links.)

Pros:
-Good for rare files

Cons:
-Slow
Soulseek

Soulseek was initially for music, but is also expanding to more files such as ebooks and things.

Links:
-Soulseek homepage

Pros:
-Great for music
-New, low corruption rate om files

Cons:
Fairly new, not many games/movies/apps

Newsgroups

Newsgroups are a great way to get files, although they are hard to use.

Links:
-Newsgroups tutorial and faq

-Pros:
-No corruption

Cons:
-Hard to use/get used to
-Hard to find good download groups

Blubster

Blubster is a new, fast and efficient music-only p2p app. It is pretty good, but lacks songs because it is so new.

Links:
-Blubster homepage

Pros:
-Fast
-New
-Little corruption

Cons:
-Music-only
-Really new, mp3 database lacking in songs.

So that ends my guide. Is it pin-worthy?

How many times has this been done now?
On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.
And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit and you think "Ok, this is the limit".
As soon as you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further.
With your mind power, your determination, your instinct and the experience as well, you can fly very high.

^^ is flawed
1 its not hard to use, its different and that != hard
2 its not hard to find stuff, packetnews, isonews, nfonews, newsbiz are all search sites just for NG's
3 it should give you the highest download speed possible, I'd say thats a pro

Couldn't agree more. Just because the author can't use newsgroups

Check out my guide. Do you reckon it's pin-worthy?

3.5 million on mine right now, not exactly dead and a lot more than 'not many'

Thanks, pol. I think my post brings an air of intelligence which is missing in the original poster's guide
