who told you it would slow down your pc? as far as i know the only way adding a hard drive can slow down a pc is if the hard drive you are adding is slower then the other one and it is added to the same channel, but I dont think a 200 gig would be all that slow really (most likley 7200rpm) lolOriginally posted by ziggyjuarez@15 April 2004 - 22:13

I wouldn't worry about it all that much
if your worried you can just add them on seperate channels anyway and they won't affect each other at all "one on sata the other on ide, or both on ide but on different channels"

it is not going to slow down your pc. if anything your older hard drive would be slowing down your big one.Originally posted by ziggyjuarez@15 April 2004 - 21:13

just make sure you have it set up like this on the ide cables:
primary ide channel:
master: old hard drive
slave: new hard drive
secondary ide channel:
any cd drives that youve got can go on the secondary ide channel in any order.
master: old hard drive
slave: new hard drive

I have two hds(one 20gig & one 60gig) on my 2.4ghz Sony Vaio and initially the PC isn't slow but as both hds slowly become full there is a slight slowdown in accessing file and programs. I haven't seen any slowdown in start-up or shutdown, so I don't think you have to worry about it since your getting a 200gig hd.
