After installing a new heatsink and fan my asus a7n8x mobo says on post 'CPU Fan Failed' But the temps are low and the fan is spinning is there any need to worry?
I wasn't going to buy it in the first place, so me downloading it for free isn't losing them any money.
did you plug the fan in correctly , you still need to plug into the cpu fan plug on the board or it cant sence the fan
if it pluged in the same as your old one then the fan is faulty and yes worry
what fan and heatsink was it you got
It's plugged in and spinning fine just the cpu isn't finding it, The temps are considerably lower than before too so it is making a diffrence.

do you plug it into a molex connector or into the motherboard? if into the motherboard, make sure its in the cpu fan connector and not the case fan or motherboard fan connector.Originally posted by AcID ZeR0@25 April 2004 - 08:54

You haven't mentioned which heatsink/fan you installed.
Presumably the fan has three wires on it's connector?
Install SpeedFan or MBM5 and see if they detect the fan speed.
If not, the fan's speed sensor may be defective.

I've sorted it now, Like someone suggested I had the plug in the wrong slot, It's weird because it never mattered with my stock CPU, Oh well. Thanks for your help everyone.
