I would idealy like a software where i can load up a video (mpeg/avi) pause it and then add more stuff to it

I knew I saw this before
VirtualDub is excelllent for video editing and it's free. It has countless plug-ins that are easy to find.
Doom9 and AfterDawn should have any guides and links to software you may need.
