This is what someone replyed to me at Comcast's forums:

When you register the modem with comcast they will push a config file to your modem... This is the "cap" (most places its 3.3m down and 256k up).. So what "cap" that's in your modem now is unimportant...
rite. they send u a config thingy. u can edit it to take out the 3.3m cap

btw, hows that modem? cuz this thread isn't just bout uncapping, ok, maybe it is. but i'm getting a new modem either way. hows that modem? i heard it's one of the best.

Looks like a pretty good price considering my ISP would charge me 500-1000 bucks for it if I didn'y return it after I disconnect my service.
I myself have a Motorola Surfboard 4100 and I have had no problems,my father in law has the modem you plan on getting and he has no problems also. You could probably fit that whole modem inside the case to my modem.LOL

I have that same modem, I rent it from my isp for $5 month. I is a good modem other than it will sometimes go offline if you are downloading alot but that might be my isp and not the modem.

After complaining about a poor connection (damn plug kept falling out of the wall) my isp just gave me a new toshiba pcx2600 (docsis 2.0)modem(my isp still doesn't charge for modems)..Speeds went from 250 KB/sec up to 350KB/sec..Very nice
