Can any1 tell me which format TEMPGEnc deals with best on the audio front, I've seen info saying it does'nt encode the avi audio very well so I'm converting the audio with virtuadub but whic is the best output for TEMPGEnc to deal with mp3 or a wav file?

Cheers for that, I've been checking out this articlehttp://www.videohelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm on encoding with for best dvd results and it recommends not using TEMPGEnc to encode the audio but it does'nt actually say how to encode the sound or if you use other software to encode it at which point to put them back together any ideas how u do this or links about it?

convert to mp2 open tmp file at top mpeg tools simple multiplex...
part though, I think like you say it will just as easy to let TEMPGEnc do it, How bad can it be at encoding music? I probably won't even know the difference.

I found out a long time ago that if you have your vafpi settings correct and remove bad frames you don't have to do anything for tmpeg to convert both audio & video

I've just noticed that TEMPGEnc has an option to extract a wav file, I've been using audiodub, do you think that TEMPGEnc will do as bad a job at extracting a wav file as it will of encoding audio?

Thanks for help so far, I encoded an avi yesterday using the original avi for video source and the audiodub extracted wav file as the audio source, I then using the file TMPGEnc had outputted as video and audio source authoured with TMPGEnc dvd author and burned, the video was of excellant quality and the sound was good except it looked ever so slightly out of sync Was there anuthing I did wrong there and also I've found the ac3 part of TMPGEnc and was wondering at which point do I add the audio in original encoding or at authoring stage?
