    Howdy.

7,500 RPM maxtors? I thought they would be 7,200 RPM.

oops sory i did that from memory let me fix it..

btw a problem i have i gots my 64 bit right? now the 64 bits have the heat spreader on top this time, and so i have this problem, i got a really low surface temp.. but the core is REALLY hot like 96c and i am not sure what i should think of this core temp...

    any help?
well atleast now it relates to hardware uhh how are you reading that temp? is it in bios or a program like mbm or something. could be reading either the wrong sensor or it may be faulty. what are your surface temps?

surface temps in bios are 30c
    core temps are currently 60c
    case temps are 27c
these are all readings in the bios...

i am using an external WCing unit, it shows the CPU block at being 23c

while the hardware detecter that came with mobo says that i have 200c i have given up on that reading...

and btw lynx nice to see ya too
its probably an incorrect reading. does the block feel hot at all?

well the block feels fine heres the deal, the block is 23c right now, now hypostheticly then the core should be pretty close to that correct? i mean... we are talking 39c difference between a piece of metal and the reading are right... i am just wondering if its ok for the core to be so hot.. i mean the surface temps are great and also wich temp should i worrie about for OCing...???
well i know that clocker reads his core temp (i think ) and its around the low 30's...and i think he said his socket is like 27 or something so low. :-)

but i think yours is a faulty reading...

oh, and i think its supposed to be around 3-7 degrees higher, not 39

    Hello Al.

You are in almost unchartered waters here...not many of us have the new 64-bit chips so practical knowledge is a bit thin on the ground.
    Maybe MadCat has some advice.
