When To Know How To Clean?

Well how? I don't want to damage it like I damaged my case fan.
Should I do that same procedure as to clean the case fan?

best option is to leave it alone , and when it starts to get noisy just replace it
most fans have plastic bushes and not bearings ( uless you payed lots for you fan )

thus its just about impossible to get the grit out if its got between the bushes and by then its usualy worn the bushes and aint fixable, and time to buy a new one

just stick a pencil in to stop the blade from spinning, then vacuum it. Or remove the fan to get excess dust from the bottom.

to oil it, do the same as any other fan, just remove the sticker on the front and put a drop in. then reseal.

well how would know which fan will fit in your card?
Since some labels says nvidia cards compatible.

When that weeny, useless little fan finally ascends to the great windtunnel in the sky, don't replace it at all.
An asthmatic hamster could wheeze more cool air across the HS than the cheap fans that both ATI and nVidia provide.
Either get yourself a passive heatpiped solution or rig up a decent HSF using more robust components.

I used an AMD Hs/fan on my 9700pro and it let me get to 450Mhz before it ran out of voltage, no artefacts. Just make sure you lap the bottom of it first.

Confused about Lap tho . Thermal paste?

Yes, lap means that you rub the thermal paste into the bottom of the heatsync, and applying the thermal paste to the GPU is something else.
