I just got this tip from a show on G4TechTV and thought I would share it. Say you have a certain program on your PC that you don't want your spouse and/or kids to ever launch. If your comfortable using Regedit to modify your registry, just follow these simple steps...

http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/969/

This only affects the user currently logged in, so if your PC has multiple accounts you have to either log in as the other users before running Regedit, or if you have admin privileges you can follow these steps to modify others users' registries...

After making these changes, you can enable/disable the lockout by changing the dword value from 1 to 0 (or vice versa).

I like some of the shows from both channels, but the one that annoys me most is Anime Unleashed. It has nothing to do with video games OR technology, and it's on for an hour every night!

Hey that's a good one! That could come in handy, not only because of the kids but also in case I ever forget my own password. Nice to know Windows is so secure.

and if you dont wanna mess in your registry, right-click on the folder the executable is in, select properties, then goto the security tab

now add the specific user to the list (if he/she isnt allready) and select "full controll" under DENY

press apply, and presto, your done....... its not as nice and tidy as the above version, but doesnt involve the registry, and can easily be undone (unless you banned yourself acces )
great FTP site for awesome quality video clips
yeah, you have to sign up, but its worth it

^ that's the way to do it
(if you have XP Pro or Win2k, that is)
no need to edit the registry, that's what permissions are for.
you can even create user groups if you have Pro or 2k. It's like a mini-Active Directory
