You have a microphone to record it?

a start would be to install speedfan or some other program which omnitors SMART on a harddrive and see if u are getting any problems reported.

Put some tranny fluid in it. Seriously tho how old is your HD ! I'v heard some pretty loud harddrives before , if its a new sound mabye back up your data while you have the chance. Then run till it die's. It 's working hard tho. I mean it could be over heating or bearing's are going , or a host of other reasons. Me I 'd look at a HD silencer, back up then run till she blows

good news and bad news. it wasnt my harddrive, it was my cd.


all seeems to be well now.
