I started acp up and pointed it to tmpgenc, loaded the avi I wanted to convert and it started, only thing is, it keeps running a test, is this normal?

Here's the log file showing in acp if it's any help.

I think muchspl2 has emigrated after embarassing himself challenging my knowledge.

He may be an expert on KVCD but needs to do many years more of learning before he'll be in a postition to challenge me

Don't worry muchspl, all is forgiven, but make sure you know what your're talking about before you start to question a true expert

Cheers muchspl2, I converted a 702mb avi file into a 679mb mpeg and I'm now watching it on my tv, seems fine but the big test is seeing if it's ok at the end of the film.

The film I converted is animated, if I converted a normal film that's 700mb avi format, would it stay around the same size when converted? May sound a silly question but I used tmpgenc to convert an avi file before(not using acp though) and it ended up being 2.5gb! lol

I don't resort to foul language but prefer to let the facts speak for themselves. Look at your recent posts.

You calling me a noob .

If having almost 4 years of experience in movie encoding still makes me a noob, then there aren't many pro's here then

What i dislike is people who pretend to know more than they actually do. If it wasnt bad enough that they give bad advice but the fact the newbies who are using this forum think they're getting good guidance, when they're not and pass on bad knowledge to others.

I never make any posts on topics i don't have actual experience on, but far too many people here do and disparage others who do know the facts.

A typical example was with the recent post from the guy who wanted to know if he could fit a 2 hr 30 min movie in VCD format on a 80 min CD. I gave him the correct answer, which was NO he couldn't, but your reply to this was that he could and i shouldnt say anything if i didnt understand.

You obviously didnt know what the specifications of a VCD is, but not only that you attacked me for giving the correct answer.

I think everyone who claims to be an expert should only stick to what they know, and be HONEST about what they know. If they're not sure about something they should not pretent to know the answer just to keep the illusion they have created for themselves.

We are here to pass on the experience we possess to others, but make sure it is experience your passing on and not guesswork.

Just watched the end of the film, fantastic quality for the whole of the film, just need the answer to my last question now, if the size stays the same then I'll be over the moon!!!

Trying to convert another (animated)film, the sound has converted ok but I think there's a problem with the video cos it's a black screen in tmpgenc(could see the frames in the first one), says the codec is mp43, have I got a problem?
