Earlier Versions = Worse Performance?

Does using earlier (like one version earlier) versions of P2P Clients cause them to maybe download slower or not retrieve as many results? I'm using OVernet 0.52 because it's the only version that works with this cracked loader and I'm wondering if my downloads could be slow because of this earlier version? same goes with things like K-lite etc.

Older versions aren't necessarily slower but they often do not have up-to-date security features.

Why not just use the latest build of Overnet Lite instead?
