Flash Alternative?

Macromedia's software is just as, if not more, intrusive and annoying than Real or Quicktime software. is it possible to make a Macro Alternative with some options...like disable flash, maybe a 'lite' mode that only loads the menus but doesnt play swf's and some more controls over its functions. Just an idea...from a dude that hates flash

There once was a Flash Alternative on the Test Builds Site. I have found some info about it in my saved Internet pages:

I remember that macromedia had released a stand-alone flash player.

flash player is the problem; and a stand-alone is just more macro than i want
