Listening to me could be dangerous.

While this thread was started I was attempting to kill myself on the Guadalupe River.

It is largely a slow moving river and an easy trip for riding in an inner-tube and drinking beer, however; there is one spot call "Waco Falls" with lots of spectators there to watch the carnage. I was approaching a large boulder in the middle of the river. A guy was standing on it, warning people to go right. I didn't listen in time.

He looked down at me and with a very sober look on his face said, "Dude, you're in a bad spot".

It was awesome really, you couldn't see the height of the falls until you were right on it, perhaps a 6 foot straight drop.

Before I could reply, my tube was ripped away and I was being dragged across the river bottom, I kept waiting for the rock to my head. For 10 seconds the force of the water carried me, smacking me off rocks left and right. When I finally surfaced my contacts has been displaced and I couldn't see a thing. Fortunately they were still in my eyes and I got them adjusted. Apparently it all happened so fast, I didn't have time to shut my eyes.

Only bumps and brusies all told, but I consider myself lucky.

I seriously learned a lesson in the power of Mother Nature.
