Have to agree there, the first few series were great, the walls moved and they did'nt care about sceenery, they had great humor, but as the FX got better, the jokes got worse

2nd Series was best

These types of things were great because they were new and fresh when we first watched them. Now they are not, so we don't see them the same way.

In addition the jokes get to be "samey" so later series are usually not as well received. However as there is money to be made ....

This is why there were only 2 series of Fawlty Towers and The Office made. Their genius will last for ever because the creators refused to let them die a slow lingering death.
