I was just about to buy that sony untill I saw this computer on ebay. It has the same exact specifications as the sony except this one has a 80gb hard drive instead of a 160gb and this one isnt a sony brand. Do you think it would be risky buying this? What do you think about the price and stuff?

Both the Sony and the Ebay computers only have a Radeon 9200. That isn't DX9 compliant, (despite the Ebay ad's claim that it is Ati's response to Nvidia's FX5200).

The Ebay computer:
Beware that the DVD burner may only be +RW and is only 4x, so it is likely to be a little out of date.
"ULTRALIGHT ATX MID-TOWER CASE" - read "cheap and nasty".
Keyboard, mouse and speakers, add $15
Floppy drive, add $6
Windows XP, add $105 for Home, $159 for Pro
Modem, add $10
"PC-Cillin provides automatic virus protection under Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP" - very true, it does, but it doesn't appear to be included with the system.
"DVD DXVA MOTION COMPENSATION FOR SMOOTH DVD PLAYBACK" - I'm not sure what this is, but you get it on all their systems, even the ones without a dvd player.
Shipping: $79 plus $79 for each additional item - I bet keyboard, floppy, modem etc are classed as additional items.

Warranty: Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. Want to bet that's another $79 for each item?

"if Bidder/buyer fails to remit payment via the specified payment methods shown above within 30 days of the completion of the auction, Bidder/buyer is considered in default on this binding, non-revocable contract for purchase, and at such time Bidder/buyer loses all claim to receive said product(s) and agrees to pay SoftByte Systems three (3) times the agreed (bid) price plus of all items purchased, as liquidated damages for failure to perform on this contract.

All in all I think you should be very wary of the Ebay pc.

Do you think the Ebay computer parts will be as good quality as the Sony computer?

just wanted to say, if you want a 9600 and an 8x dvd burner, your going to have to pay 79 dollars shipping! if you buy those 2 parts from newegg.com you are sure to be saving lots of money...

Why would I have to pay 75 dollars for those 2 parts if its just a upgrade inside the computer?

Read their terms and conditions very carefully, personally I wouldn't touch that particular company with a bargepole.

Find another, the one in Monkee's thread looks to have better conditions and similar prices, but in any case make sure about that "extras" shipping price.
