To get all my avi files onto dvd - i use tmpgenc, then author, then nero.

this produces 4.5gig ish files perfect for dvd-r.

but all the avis i got left to do are two disc xvids (eg, the last samurai 2 disc xvid). surely doing this the normal way will produce two files 4gig each.

what is the easiest way to get both these files on the same dvd. id normally use svcd to do it - but its encoding horribly on my machine at the mo. is there any other way to do this?

cheers for any help in advance

join them together after producing the mpeg movie with tmpgenc, then author the dvd. finally use dvd shrink to squeeze it to fit one dvd disc.

You can lower the bit rate when you encode with tmpgenc. Use VBR with the range between 2000 and 4000. This will save a great deal of space, so you don't get two files of 4 gig +

EDIT: another way to do it is to join the xvid files using virtualdub and then convert to mpeg using tmpgenc, then continue with your normal method.
